FAQ’s
-
No. All of our sessions are designed for girls to attend independently, so you can drop your child off and collect them afterwards.
-
Absolutely. Every session is led by experienced InUnity youth workers who hold enhanced DBS checks, up-to-date safeguarding training, and first aid qualifications.
Our team is passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces where girls can have fun, make friends, and try something new.
-
If you can no longer attend, please cancel your booking as soon as possible so that someone else can take your place.
You can cancel your booking by:
Opening your booking confirmation email.
Clicking the Change/Cancel Appointment link.
Selecting Cancel Appointment and confirming your cancellation.
Please note:If you are unable to attend a session, please cancel your booking as soon as possible so the place can be offered to another child. If your child does not attend two booked sessions without cancelling in advance, any future bookings may be automatically cancelled. This helps us make sure spaces are used fairly and that as many girls as possible can take part.
-
We believe every girl should have access to fun, exciting opportunities. Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Hargreaves Foundation, all Summer of the Girl activities are completely free to attend.

We collect some information to help us understand the impact of our work and improve our programmes. Your information will be stored securely, used only for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and will never be shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Parents information will be kept for sharing information about further programmes and feedback after sessions. If you do not want to receive this, then please opt out on the booking form.
-
Summer of the Girl activities are for girls aged 11 to 16, unless a different age range is stated on the specific activity information. Please check the details for each session before booking.
-
For most sessions, we recommend bringing:
A refillable water bottle
Comfortable clothing and suitable footwear
If an activity has any additional requirements, these will be listed in the event information. As our sessions are relatively short, no snacks or packed lunches will be required.
-
Most of our activities take place across South Birmingham, and priority is given to girls living in the local area. However, everyone is welcome to book, and we’ll always do our best to accommodate you if spaces are available.
-
Girls who attend 3 more Summer of the Girl sessions will be guaranteed an invitation to our end-of-summer pool party. We’ll keep track of attendance and send invitations directly to everyone who qualifies.
There may also be additional places available for girls who have attended fewer than three sessions, but these can’t be guaranteed.
-
It is completely normal for children to feel nervous before trying something new, especially if they do not know anyone else attending. Our youth workers will welcome your child when they arrive, help them settle in, and support them to get involved at a pace that feels comfortable. The sessions are designed to be friendly, inclusive, and a good opportunity to meet new people.
-
Absolutely. We want our activities to be as inclusive as possible and are always happy to discuss individual needs. We are not able to provide one-to-one support, so if your child requires dedicated supervision, please get in touch before booking so we can discuss how best to support them.
-
Please tell us about any medical conditions, allergies, or medication your child may need on the booking form. If they carry an inhaler, EpiPen, or other medication independently, let us know. If they need support with medication during the session, please get in touch before booking so we can work with you to make appropriate arrangements.
-
We encourage girls to make the most of their time at our sessions by taking a break from their phones and screens, making new friends, and getting involved in the activities. We understand they may need to bring a phone for getting to and from the session safely, but we’ll ask that phones are put away during activities unless they’re needed as part of the session.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s needs before booking, please email: summer26@inunityuk.org
