Happy Days, Happy Bags!

In February InUnity launched our 6th EmpowHER group. A girls only well-being and social action programme in partnership with UK Youth.

As the Covid-19 pandemic escalated, the girls decided to make a difference by putting together self-named “Happy Packs” for vulnerable elderly residents. The girls decorated the bags with colourful designs and positive messages.

“Packs containing non-perishable items such as soup, biscuits, and noodles along with tissues, mints, a puzzle book and handwritten note”

We worked with Clarion Housing to distribute the packs containing non-perishable items such as soup, biscuits, and noodles along with tissues, mints, a puzzle book and handwritten note. We included a stamped addressed envelope for the purpose of a correspondence and are thrilled to have had some back thanking the girls for their efforts.

Despite the blanket closure of schools, the group are still trying to make a difference. We have moved the contend online and the girls have been busy creating key rings for key workers and supporting vulnerable neighbours by mowing their lawns and shopping for them.

Well done girls!

Some lovely words from the people at Clarion

“We are delighted to be working with InUnity as part of our #iWill Community Ambassador Programme. Their commitment to supporting young people to participate in youth social action in Birmingham fits perfectly with the ethos of our programme and will enable young ambassadors to develop skills and take action in their communities.”
