How did you feel when you first heard about Corona Virus/Covid-19?
When I first hearing the news it was horrible but in my mind I thought ‘it won’t affect me, it wont come to the UK! I Think we will be fine.” It is affecting us though, hearing news like this we are all worrying about catching it yourself or if any of your family members are going to be at risk.  For me, what this has caused could be life changing and ruin plans for the future. I’m worries it will prevent me from the things I dreamt of doing and growing up to be that person I wanted to be .

How do you feel now?
Worrying is all I’m feeling at this point! Worrying that I don’t have qualifications to get a job because I couldn’t sit my exams, worrying that I’ll be finding out that colleges won’t except me due to my predicted grades.  But mostly I’m feeling bored not being able to see family members and friends.  Especially leaving school and not being able to see them as we would of all moved on to creating new things.

How has It affected you?
Its affected me it many ways. I’m always an active person and now I’m just sitting in the house on a regular basis thinking of ideas I should do to keep myself occupied and not being able to see loved ones.  I’m close to family especially when it comes to my little cousins and my Nan; they are the people that keep me standing on my two feet not being able to see them is horrible when you have that strong connection to them.

It’s affected my future because I may not get into the college I wanted to and study my course which could mean finding a job I will enjoy could be difficult.

What  stands out to you as the most significant factor in all of this?
I think that the closing of schools will be the most important stand out part to me as students could be missing out on a lot. Having to do that extra work when they return which could put more stress on them will be hard.

Not being able to finish year 11 how I expected to finish is sad as I didn’t get to celebrate leaving.  No prom, no leavers assembly, just a simple goodbye and a hug is all I got to do.

What changes have you and your family had to make?
Family not being able to work, changing plans to celebrate birthdays parties and holidays. All plans that would bring family together.

The positive things that it has created in me is that I am spending more time with my Mom and being able to make changes in the house.  Having to stay in and not being able to see family members is hard but keeping safe is the best option!

What are you looking forward to when all of this is over?

Getting to see my friends again, getting to see my family again and enjoying the sun. I am looking forward to getting back to my usual self!

How do you think this will change the world for the better?

People would learn from this and know what to do if something like this was to happen again. Next time we will be ready and prepared. We can get all the stuff that is needed incase anything else like lockdown happens again.
